AME Tooling Engineer will have extremely essential and independent role focused on support of new die builds and launches for our Structures plants in Europe; also will support production functions to continuously improve in all areas i.e. safety, efficiency, productivity. Reporting to AME Tooling Manager, will be a part of AME Regional Team covering Europe and Africa activities.
Your tasks will be:
• Liaising with project managers, design teams and toolmakers with regards to the tools meeting the DFM requirements leading to approval of new tools
• Support Engineering Team with parts design feasibility/industrialization reviews
• Liaison between plant and EU Lear Corporate, suppliers or customers; work with US and EU teams to implement common die standards
• Prepare RFQ annexes and detailed info for new tools or tool modifications, support costing estimations and offers comparisons
• Launching tools at outsourced and at home locations and work with all team members (internally and supplier) to fully qualify and PPAP stampings to the customer requirements;
• Ensure timing, tool capability and proper quality are met before SOP
• Assist in the design and development of stamp tooling including but not limited to strip layouts, die construction and press specifications
• Supporting internal tooling Team to ensure standardizations are shared between programs and locations
• Assist in development and improvement of current and new tooling sources
• Track and report progress of tooling programs from sourcing to a production ready state
We expect from you:
• Min. 5 years of experience in tooling area - experience in automotive industry is a huge advantage
• Strong technical knowledge and expertise in stamping; ability to apply process knowledge to the tool design
• Project coordination experience (multiple tools at the same time) – APQP approach or similar
• Good understanding of technical drawings (GD&T)
• Proficiency in trouble shooting dies and make adjustments
• Experience in lean manufacturing tools and CAD are very welcome
• English language skill, to be used on a daily basis
• Outstanding human relation skills evident in the ability to work with the team and clear communication and execution
• Willingness to travel
