AME Project Manager

Position Overview

As part of the EU & Africa JIT and Structures AME team, this role is responsible for financial and technical planning, supplier selection and implementation of the new projects within vary areas. The role involves leading all AME activities around project industrialization, including: benchmarking hardware and software, identifying best practices, defining Lear standards for EU & Africa, leading the development of new processes, technically interfacing with suppliers, creating specifications and communicating with the plants and other central functions, developing automation and industry 4.0 activities, and identifying new technologies that can be used.


Key tasks

As a member of the EU&AF AME team, working with all stakeholders in the identification, design and track project industrialization, following process standards and hardware standards definition.


  • Specific targets are to improve:
  • Work together with Plant Industrial Engineering and the rest of AME teams to ensure correct implementation of processes.
  • Communicate AME Standards to the plants and provide a single source location for accessing latest standards.
  • Supplier development – work with Purchasing to develop key supplier partners.
  • Benchmarking of solutions concerning process reliability and costs.
  • Identification of innovations and support roll out.
  • Increase Lear internal CE understanding, allowing future internal integration opportunities.
  • Identification of new opportunities for automation within the manufacturing process
  • Developing concept of new automatization solutions, preparing specifics and requirements for external RFQ
  • Reviewing offers and solutions proposed by external companies
  • Assuring and optimizing process feasibility working together with the engineering team during the developing phase.
  • Designing and defining manufacturing processes adopting LEAR standard if any, of creating them if needed.
  • Developing and maintaining clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment or processes
  • Staff training where necessary – typically after implementing new processes or equipment, or making changes to existing ones

Key Skills


  • 3 years minimum experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role.
  • Experience in welding and riveting fixtures/cells design and commissioning.
  • Strong project management experience with project budget control.
  • High Standard of English language
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel within the role.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Creative thinking skills
  • Detail-oriented personality
  • Good communicator – comfortable in presenting to all levels within the business.

Strong working knowledge of MS Office.


  • Experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role in Automotive industry.
  • Project management experience with project budget control greater than €2m.
  • Understanding of CE certification requirements.
  • Understanding of ergonomics.
