This role is based in our World Class Manufacturing facility in Coventry. 
 

ROLE OVERVIEW 

 

Overall responsibility for the manufacturing operations of the Coventry plant is to ensure QDCSME metrics are achieved meeting the expectation of the business and customer. Leads and guides a team all departments in the absence of the Plant Director. 

 

Customer relations and delivery to our customers, mainly covering 2 OEM locations (Solihull & Castle Bromwich).  Leadership responsibly for the Manufacturing team covering a 2 (Potential 3) shift operation with circa 600 employees and contingency workers, Responsible for Operations, Health & Safety functions as well as Quality (Dotted Line).   Working closely with Materials, Launch, Engineering/Maintenance etc to ensure the smooth implementation of Engineering changes & Launch Activities. Drive a culture of change and continuous improvement.

 

 

MANUFACTURING

 

  • Management responsibility for Operational Management ensuring that all products are produced on time to quality targets as set by plant strategy and customer requirements.
  • Ensure robust balancing of labour on all production lines to achieve maximum operating efficiency across all plant operations.
  • Responsible budget management and spend as well as defining/justification of future requirements / capex to meet business needs and strategy.
  • Deliver all new programs with improved build quality, in collaboration with CI and Quality teams.
  • Ensure and maintain training of personal at all levels to throughout the business.

 

MAINTENANCE (In the absence of Snr Eng Mgr)

 

  • Responsibility for the management team of the maintenance department to ensure the delivery of proactive/preventative maintenance solutions in line with best practice and efficient reactive repair techniques when required.

 

GENERAL

 

  • Maintain the succession planning within the department and ensure all members of staff are trained appropriately in accordance with the needs of their job.
  • Develop a cross-functional team ethic to ensure communication between the various specialisms within the department is maximized.
  • Coach, mentor and develop immediate reports to enable them to operate with autonomy when required and still deliver plant objectives
  • Through a process of ongoing improvement, ensure housekeeping within the facility exceeds best in class standards.
  • Ensure effective maintenance and good housekeeping of all IT systems for manufacturing, materials and maintenance use in order to optimize resources.
  • Monitor departmental performance through the prompt submission of corporate reports and metrics along with key performance indicators to ensure departmental targets are met or exceeded.
  • Through the implementation of lean manufacturing philosophies and tools, maximize operational effectiveness within the facility.
  • Through the implementation and enforcement of internal procedures, ensure full compliance with the company’s management systems i.e. TS16949, ISO14001 & AEO compliance in order to meet and maintain certification for plant.
  • Carry out special projects/assignments as required to support the needs of the business.
  • Effectively manage the Operations department budget, ensuring that all aims, and objectives are met.
  • Work effectively with other internal departments such as Quality, Supply Chain, HR and Finance in order to ensure all business requirements are met.
  • Work as an integral part of the management team, participating in strategic decision making and planning activities in order to ensure the future profitability and success of the plant
