Senior Commodity Buyer - Electronics

Key Tasks:
Create strategy
• Develop and maintain strong commodity strategies incl. commodity target setting - based on a deep understanding of BA needs and insights into the supply market characteristics. These strategies are to be reviewed and approved on an annual basis.
• Cooperate with knowledge owners cross BA’s to align purchasing strategies with BA needs and conduct cross functional commodity meetings on regular basis
• Search and identify innovative suppliers meeting cross functional BA needs as well as suppliers that can provide global support
• Develop the annual cost reduction, innovation & improvement plan and set commodity targets to support overall BA targets
• Identifying, proposing, developing, executing and managing commodity cost reduction projects to meet divisional and Local business requirements
• Analyze category spend data to find opportunities for cost reduction, e.g. supplier consolidation, specification rationalization, variant reduction, low cost country sourcing etc.
• Initiate K-briefs and activities to implement approved strategies
• Responsible according to QIP/LIP process
• Lead initiatives for re-sourcing in line with cost savings targets and commodity strategies
Market outlook
• Monitor and advise on market conditions which present risk or opportunity to the Company with regard to commercial, legal, quality and environmental conditions.
• Proactively provide expert input on raw material & commodity pricing trends and its consequences on the future product cost structure
Project/PIP support
• Provide buyers with bidders list proposals and support to define target price, consistent with the Best Landed Cost or Cost Models
• Support Engineering and Sales with project kick off, cost reduction and customer projects
• Providing timely feedback, reports and the management of commercial communications with assigned suppliers
• Contribute to the make or buy decision making process, providing true cost analysis
• Lead the coordination of bundling business awards globally, in conjunction with the Project buyers. Leverage current business, using new project awards or resourcing (PIP)
• Lead yearly price negotiations with strategic and global suppliers and assure LTA’s are continuously updated with new sourcing or other changes

Supplier management
• Manage Supplier Relationships for selected preferred suppliers, incl. :
o Initiate supplier development activities
o Drive joint costs workshops on regular basis and create savings road maps
o Facilitate innovation and continuous improvement workshops
o Manage commercial relationships (incl. contract terms & conditions and annual negotiations)
o Share QSTCM
• Ensure accurate measurements, accountability and control is maintained through contract and supplier management
• Manage and review long term agreements with strategic preferred suppliers and implement new contracts when needed
• Ensure supplier meet criteria for P (X) strategy on yearly basis
• Management, processing and transmission of supplier contracts ensuring suppliers meet minimum performance and contractual requirements including quality cost and delivery precision
• Cost effective security and continuation of supply, together with the continuous improvement and general management of suppliers.
• Monitoring sales and production requirements ensuring suppliers meet capacity and quality requirements
• Maintain VP updated with correct strategies information and in accordance with approval procedure
• Assure LTA updates are communicated to Operational buyers
• Operate a continuous improvement process in all areas of purchasing and supply chain management
• Act as a coach and work for increased knowledge on commodities for Project and Operational buyers on a day to day basis
• Manage internal customer relationship Collect and follow up on internal customer feedback on services


Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree is needed Bussines or Engineering Degree  is a plus.
  • Previous experience in production environments purchasing may be a plus
  • Fluent English Skills – every second language will be a plus.
  • 5-6 years experience in automotive purchasing experience is a must
  • Strategic Purchasing mindset (How do I set up my suppliers needs to support mindset)
  • Capacity to develop a supply base to fulfill the business needs.
  • Search and supply new suppliers.
