APPLICATION ENGINEER
SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN – LEAR EAST CAMPUS/WORLD HEADQUARTERS
As a member of the Connection Systems team, the Application Engineer is responsible to lead customer interaction with onsite customer support. Will support new business, product changes and quality issues. Will lead the engineering activity for assigned programs to ensure that products meet customer and company specifications and that program milestones are achieved.
The Role:
Your work will include, but not be limited to:
- Responsible for coordinating and monitoring the engineering process for new products and product changes both internally and at the customer.
- Increase existing product usage through new customer applications and vertical integration.
- Will typically be responsible for directing a group of support engineers.
- Monitor and share VOC (Voice of the Customer) within the Lear organization.
The Hour by Hour Task Breakdown with percentages:
- 25% Customer interaction
- 40% Information management - gathering / sharing. (Excel, Power Point)
- 10% System interaction/processing (Both Lear and Customer)
- 25% internal meetings and reporting
Your Qualifications:
- Experience in Automotive connectors (+5 years)
- Ability to represent Lear to the customer.
- Frequent travel between office and customer location.
- Perform or support customer and internal drawing releases.
- Able to support APQP processes for project documentation development and approval
- Work within a global team environment.
- Must be highly organized
- Possess strong leadership skills and the ability to foster a team environment
- Have experience working with all management levels within a large organization
- Possess strong verbal/written communication skills
- Ability to travel globally (est. 1 or 2 times per year)
- Proficient with MS office software. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Bonus If You Have:
- Knowledge in WERS (Worldwide Engineering Release System)
- Able to use CAD as a design review tool.
