Principal Engineer- Vehicle HVAC

As a member of the HVAC team, the Principal Engineer will be responsible for activities related to HVAC of vehicle. Suitable candidates should understand the following:


The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Functional performance of the HVAC system including the coordination of all components and subsystems.
  • Develop an HVAC system to comply with all technical/functional, reliability, durability, and performance requirements of the OEM.
  • Create and maintain the Technical Requirements Document (TRD) for the HVAC system and coordinate all activities required to execute the product development work plan.
  • Develop the HVAC system to achieve all performance, durability, and reliability targets and act as the primary “developer” of the system through hands-on interaction with the product
  • Primary technical voice to the customer and within the organization
  • Develop the analysis methods and test plans for establishing reliability/performance of HVAC systems and their components to determine the ability of the product to comply with customer performance requirements
  • Experience with Electric Vehicles’ and requirements for HVAC in those unique environments
  • Travel as required to support projects or other application work requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 15+ years of experience in a Automotive HVAC Design
  • Demonstrated root cause and problem-solving skills using PDCA process
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively with internal / external customers and suppliers
  • Strict adherence to Lear product development and design review processes
  • Perform engineering analysis (stack-ups, calculations and design studies) as required
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to work independently and make sound, data driven decisions
  • Apply approved design guidelines, best practices and lessons learned into initial designs
