SENIOR QUALITY-WARRANTY ENGINEER
SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN 

 

As a member of the Warranty team, the Senior Quality Engineer will be responsible for effective execution of Lear’s core warranty management processes which includes customer specific requirements & compliance, warranty data analysis, part return analysis, warranty lessons learned, system improvements, and debit management.


The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:
 

  • Warranty Claim Data management
    • Analyze warranty data and performance metrics
    • Lead the reviews with cross-functional team to assign and address warranty issues
    • Lead regular report outs to internal and external customer
    • Responsible to validate effectiveness of corrective actions
    • Monitor current and previous model years’ warranty performance through end of warranty period for high time in service spikes
  • Warranty Part Return and Technical Factor
    • Primary contact for warranty returned parts and reviews
    • Proper documentation of findings in Lear’s warranty database
    • Lead reviews with cross-functional team to address findings from part analysis
    • Lead in the establishment of liability percentage
  • Warranty Debit
    • Lead in debit reviews and in resolving debit discrepancies
    • Communicate pending debits to appropriate department or plant
    • Perform cost estimate/forecast
  • Warranty Lessons Learned & System Requirements
    • Ensure warranty lessons learned are documented in controlled documents, such as Control Plans, D/PFMEA, work instructions, etc.
    • Participate in design reviews and provide pertinent warranty lessons learned
    • Participate in quality/warranty system improvements that pertains to pertinent areas of expertise and job responsibility.
    • Continuously update skills and knowledge via available customer training and other sources of knowledge.
  • Subject matter expert to customer specific requirements including warranty terms and conditions


The Hour by Hour Task Breakdown with percentages:

  • Data management (50%)
  • Part return management (30%)
  • Debit management (10%)
  • Lessons Learned (10%)

 

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related technical program. Other degree will be considered with relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3 years work experience in warranty, engineering, or manufacturing within the automotive industry
     

Bonus If You Have:

  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Six Sigma Green belt / Black belt certified
  • Previous experience with customer warranty systems (Ford, GM, Stellantis)
  • Knowledge of a wide range of problem solving tools, methodologies, and statistics
  • Strong time management and organizational skill
