SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER
SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN – WORLD HEADQUARTERS

 

Summary

Lear’s Electronics organization develops a variety of systems including Remote Keyless Entry (RKE), Passive Entry, Seat Controls, Power Distribution and Gateway modules.   The Senior Systems Engineer is the bridge between the customer and the implementation teams, responsible for understanding and documenting the customer’s needs, working with the implementation teams to refine an achievable design, and ensuring the completion of testing to verify that the design meets the stated requirements.

The position will collaborate with Lear’s Global teams to develop leading technology solutions efficiently and with top quality performance.  The position reports to Lear’s regional Manager of Systems Engineering.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Execute customer and advanced development projects in accordance with Lear’s ASPICE and ISO26262 compliant development processes, including:
    • Working with external (customer) and internal project teams to specify, clarify, confirm and manage all product/system level requirements in customer and advanced development projects, including functional safety and cybersecurity requirements
    • Working together with hardware and software engineering to define optimal electronic hardware architectures, including microcontroller and peripheral chipset selection
    • Allocating and/or partitioning system requirements between hardware and software, and supporting the development of product hardware/software integration specifications
    • Ensuring product quality and a product quality mindset through disciplined application of peer reviews, system-level FMEA/risk analysis, and system and vehicle level validation testing
  • Support the System Team Lead and Engineering Project Lead in collecting relevant metrics

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering and/or automotive application development
  • Experience working within projects using model-based development processes and ISO26262.
  • Passion for working across organizational boundaries to solve complex technical problems and ensure product quality
  • Expert Knowledge of DOORs, JIRA, Enterprise Architect or equivalent tools
  • B.S.E. in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science required.  M.S.E. preferred.
  • Fluent in English
