SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER
SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN – WORLD HEADQUARTERS

 

As a member of the Core Wiring team, the Senior System Engineer will be responsible to develop and analyze E/E vehicle advance systems design architecture studies that includes power distribution design boxes and ground distribution architecture. interpret and analyze schematics and 2D print. Apply latest technologies in design switches, electronics, connectors, junction boxes.  Analyze wire harness partitioning/layout and E/E components distribution.  Propose design optimization options\levels studies and show total vehicle E/E impact including adherence to specification, quality, cost, weight and on time delivery.  Develop vehicle & subsystems schematic diagrams and illustrate vehicle architecture systems designs for the power distribution, grounding development. Below is a synopsis of the general job responsibilities:
 

  • Understand Device Transmittals, gather and maintain loads, special requirements such as twisted pairs, shielding, resistance, voltage drop, etc…
  • Understand Subsystems logical connection (ex, Radio, Amplifier, Speakers etc….)
  • Power Distribution Components PDC, SJB, BCM etc. (fuses, relays, circuit breakers, etc…)
  • Vehicle grounding partitioning of Dirty, Clean grounds, etc…
  • Vehicle Topologies, Components, Network, Grounding, etc…
  • Perform Trade-off studies for optimization
  • Ensure Systems Level Specification\Requirements are meet
  • Interpretation of modules I/O requirements
  • Understand Wire Harness Complexity Generation and circuit coding and interpretation
  • Systems Benchmarking

 

The Hour by Hour Task Breakdown with percentages:

  • Meeting with peers and customer to brainstorm and create requirements from scratch (30% of day)
  • Design reviews, component management and print drafting / release (30% of day)
  • Feature development, product / vehicle reviews and failure modes analysis (40% of day)

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience in low and high voltage wire harness design engineering
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Vehicle E/E Architecture Design & Systems integration
  • Ability to Work as Part of Cross Functional Team
  • RFQ & RFI activities
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability and Willingness to Travel

 

Bonus If You Have:

  • High voltage experience in Automotive Systems                                                     
  • DVP&R (Design Verification Process & Report)
