The Test Technician [Electrical] will work with an engineering team to perform the validation testing required for automotive electronic modules. The ideal candidate will enjoy hands on work in a very dynamic setting and will have had previous automotive industry experience. The Test Technician [Electrical] works closely with validation and product engineering to execute the design and production validation tests that are required during the product development cycle. They will also interface daily with product and validation engineering to ensure the test specifications and product validation parameters are understood. This position is a combination of electrical, electronic, mechanical technician work, so the ability to learn new strategies and quickly add skills is paramount to success.


The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Support all stages of testing associated with validation of automotive electronic control modules.
  • Fabricate and verify new test equipment; test interfaces; electronic prototype devices.
  • Review and interpret schematics and drawings to fabricate and build electrical prototypes.
  • Interface with the product and validation engineers to test new products.
  • Support new product development and fabrication of pre-development prototypes.
  • Participate in internal meetings as required to support projects.



The Hour by Hour Task Breakdown with percentages:

  • Fabricate and verify; test interfaces; electronic prototype devices; new test equipment (40% of day)
  • Interface with validation and test engineers to execute validation testing for new products (40% of day)
  • Review daily, DVP&R and track test progress and report out testing status (20% of day)



Your Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant automotive testing experience
  • Basic understanding of engineering theory and principles of electronic module design
  • Proven experience with electronics and test and measurement instrumentation
  • Experience with electronic modules, RF automotive products, high power devices
  • Experience with customer specifications and validation plans
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret electrical schematics, technical procedures, and test specifications
  • Ability to accurately write test summaries and business correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information and actively participate in a technical discussion
  • Good oral and written English language skills
  • Strong technical writing skills and working knowledge of MS Office products
  • Well organized, able to work well with a diverse team and varying personalities/cultures
