The Test Equipment Engineering Supervisor will lead a cross functional engineering team that designs, builds, programs, and supports the test equipment required for validating automotive electronic modules. The ideal candidate will enjoy hands on work in a very dynamic setting and will have had previous automotive industry testing experience. The Test Equipment Engineering Supervisor works closely with and provides training and mentorship to the test equipment engineering team. They will also interface daily with product and validation engineering to ensure the test specification and product validation parameters are understood by the test equipment engineering team. This supervisory position is a combination of electronic, electrical, mechanical and software engineering that requires substantial program management skills and necessitates the ability to learn new strategies quickly and effectively.

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Directly lead and support a group of engineers and technicians whose primary responsibility is the design, build and support of test equipment used to validate automotive electronic control modules.
  • Lead and direct test equipment projects and train and mentor personnel as required.
  • Interface with the product and validation engineers to propose new test equipment for new products.
  • Lead in product design reviews and internal meetings as required to support projects.
  • Direct and schedule equipment startup and problem-solving during testing.
  • Key contributor in multiple global test equipment quoting and planning activities.



The Hour by Hour Task Breakdown with percentages:

  • Directly lead and support the test equipment group, plan, and report on projects. (40% of day)
  • Verify new test equipment plans, create work schedules, and train lab personnel as required. (30% of day)
  • Interface with the product and validation engineers to propose test equipment strategies. (20% of day)
  • Participate in and provide direct test equipment cost input to program quote activities. (10% of day)



Your Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required for this position; Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of relevant test equipment design experience. 1-2 years of management experience preferred.
  • Clear understanding of engineering theory and principles of electronic tester design.
  • Proven experience with electronics and test and measurement instrumentation.
  • Experience with customer specifications and validation plans.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret electrical schematics, technical procedures, and test specifications.
  • Ability to accurately write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and actively participate in a technical discussion.
  • Good oral and written English language skills.
  • Strong technical writing skills and working knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Well organized, able to work well with a diverse team and varying personalities/cultures.
