PRODUCT ENGINEER
JOB LOCATION: SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN

 
As a member of the Wiring team, the Wiring Product Engineer will be responsible of designing and developing automotive wire harnesses using a focused and disciplined approach.  Ownership of entire product development cycle of assigned part(s) including adherence to specification, quality, cost, weight and on time delivery.

Below is a synopsis of the general job responsibilities:

  • Develop and Release Robust On Time Designs
  • Ensure Adherence to Specification for Assigned Parts
  • Ensure Design Meets Customer Requirements
  • Track and Control Design Changes
  • Support On Time Part Delivery
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis 
  • Support Cost, Weight and Warranty Reduction Activities
  • Support Harness/Vehicle Assembly Plants 
  • Work Cross Functionally with Customer, Suppliers, Purchasing, Quality, Manufacturing, etc.
  • Support Wire Harness Complexity Generation
  • Support Design Reviews


The Hour by Hour Task Breakdown:
Meeting with peers and customer to brainstorm and create requirements from scratch (30% of day)
Design reviews, component management and print drafting / release (30% of day)
Feature development, product / vehicle reviews and failure modes analysis (40% of day)


Qualifications:

  • Experience in low or high voltage wire harness design engineering
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to Work as Part of Cross Functional Team
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability and Willingness to Travel
  • Flexible on working locations, on or offsite


Bonus If You Have:
Experience with Capital XC 2D design
3D Design Experience
