JOB TITLE: Automation Engineer
JOB LOCATION (SPARTA , MICHIGAN – Lear Sparta Automation Division)

 

As a member of the Automation team, the Automation Engineer will be responsible for Leading, Supporting, Implementing, and Managing Automation projections while driving innovation in advancements.

 

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • The Automation Engineer will be Lear’s expert for all automation applications.
  • The candidate will use their vast knowledge, experience, and resourcefulness to lead and implement automation cells and drive standards across North America.
  • The candidate must be able to develop the concept, aid in the Mechanical/Electrical design, install, train the receiving plant, and provide on-going support for the robot cell. 
  • The candidate must also possess the skill to project lead other Integrators as a subject matter expert.
  • Manage small projects and workloads involving Fanuc and UR integrations, safety upgrades on existing equipment, and retrofits.
  • Properly maintaining Fanuc robotics systems by performing Preventive Maintenance
  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Provides guidance and direction to other team members, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Monitors and reviews information from materials, events, or the environment to detect or assess problems.
  • Develop performance indicators to increase reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Develop contingency and disaster recovery plans.
  • Completion of Automation risk assessments

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in a related field
  • Fanuc and UR robotic experience of integration, programming, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance
  • Great electrical/mechanical troubleshooting abilities
  • Proficient in the Fanuc robotics systems (additional robotics experience in other brands is a plus)
  • Knowledgeable in Allen Bradley PLC: MicroLogix, CompactLogix, ControlLogix, and Studio 5000 software
  • Experience creating HMI projects, making HMI changes, and additions
  • Knowledgeable in reading and following electrical prints to diagnose and troubleshoot down equipment
  • Willingness to travel in North America – up to 30%.

 

Bonus If You Have:

  • Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) experience
  • Vision- experience to guide robot – offsets
  • Condition Based Monitoring- vibration, amp draw - predictive maintenance
