Customs Clearance Specialist

The Customs Clearance Specialist will ensure that all shipments related to their assigned territory will be completed timely and in a compliant manner. The Customs Clearance Specialist will also support to meet requirements related to origin.

The position is based in our Europe Shared Services Centre was established in Brno in 2010 with the goal to support Lear's plants in EMEA and cover accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Organize information related to incoming/outgoing shipments in the system to create customs declarations, as required.
  • Generate UCRs in the system and send frontier declaration reports to the customs broker/port agent.
  • Collect and upload in the system the information from the port agent needed to complete supplementary customs declarations.
  • Follow up, and complete manually any missing information in the customs declaration solution.
  • File supplementary customs declarations for the prescribed period.
  • Request missing transactional information from Lear UK plants, central logistics, plant logistics service providers and any other impacted stakeholders.
  • Perform error checks and clear any error message related to supplementary declarations in the system.
  • Support Lear employees on any queries related to information needed to complete customs declarations.
  • Coordinate communication with HMRC to clear any queries related to customs clearances.
  • Support the implementation of the preferential origin solution.
  • Perform systems information audits and generate reports as directed by management team.
  • Escalate any relevant issues to the UK Customs Supervisor.

 

Our requirements:

  • High School / University degree in business administration / finance / economics preferred
  • Professional qualifications in Customs, Trade or related areas (logistics, supply chain, brokerage)
  • Customs experience – at least 3 years – preferably with customs clearance and/or origin
  • Experience with Trade Management Solutions
  • Fluent in English (other languages such Spanish, German and French are a plus)
  • Good communication skills
