Electrification PCB Design Engineer

Position Overview 


The Electrification PCB Design Engineer (Printed Circuit Board) will develop the PCB designs for fully electrified and hybrid vehicles (BEV/HEV) applied to power converters, battery management systems, on-board chargers, etc. 

The main responsibility is to develop PCB designs for high voltage products and release its associated documentation. 


Responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to): 

Analyze and understand PCB related specifications and constrains (product, packaging, thermal, EMC, etc.). 

Analyze and design the PCB according internal/external specifications (DOORS) & guidelines: hardware specifications; customer specifications; packaging specifications (mechanical driven); manufacturing specifications. 

Analyze and understand the laboratory validations that will be done in the product. 

Support the mechanical and project team leaders to develop the correct product design. 

Support and follow PCB design reviews with customers, suppliers, manufacturing plants, and other engineering areas. 

Defines and optimizes topology and technology of PCB with the project team. 

Prepare PCB drawings, specifications, manufacturing and customer drawings. 

Responsible of the PCB BOM. 

Leads the PCB DFMEA and participates when requested on the PFMEA. 

Ensures PCB robust design according quality procedures (checklists, thermal simulations, design guidelines, mechanical interfaces, etc.). 

Defines additional tests to be applied on PCBs when needed. 

Analyzes results from laboratory proposing and modifying possible changes on PCB design to solve non-conformities. 

Analyzes and approves PCB validations/homologations. 

Participates proposing changes to save cost on CTO / DTC activities. 

To lead support and follow problem resolutions (8D, customer, suppliers, etc.). 


To be a success in this role you must have: 

·         Fluent in English. 

·         Engineering degree. 

·         At least 6 months in PCB Design and/or Hardware Engineering. 

·         Knowledge of ECAD tools (Xpedition, Altium, etc.) 

·         PCB Design knowledge (technical, EMCs, thermal management, EMC, etc.). 

·         Knowledge of Power and Control Electronics as well as Electrical Vehicles. 

·         Overall understanding of PCB materials, technologies, PCB manufacturing and assembly processes. 

·         Overall understanding of International PCB & electrical standards (IPCs, IECs, ULs, etc.). 

·         Knowledge of customers procedures. 

·         Knowledge of the development processes established in the organization & project. 

·         Knowledge of industry applicable standards and customer specifications. 

·         Knowledge of the Requirements management tools used in the organization (DOORS, SEM, SVN, etc.). 

·         Knowledge of automotive industry, quality standards and problem resolution tools (8D, DVT, PVT, PPAP, etc.). 

·         Communication and negotiation skills.
