Position Overview


The PCB Engineer (PCB) is the developer of the PCB design following the specs released by the customer. The main responsibility is developing the PCB design and releasing the documents associated to it like 2D. He/she shall follow PCB Valls Design guidelines and PCB.


Responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to):

The main responsibilities of the PCB Engineer Role are the followings:

Analyze and understand related PCB specifications (product specs, packaging specs…).

Analyze and understand laboratory validation to be applied into the product.

Make the PCB design fulfilling the specifications following internal and external design guide lines and specifications.

Apply the defined components into the PCB design

Analyze and develop the PCB design against specifications (DORS): Hardware specifications; Customer specifications; Packaging specification (Mechanical driven); Manufacturing specification.

Support the Mechanical team leaders for developing the correct product design.

Make the PCB drawings, specifications, manufacturing and customer drawings.

Releases technical documentation (fabrication and assembly) according Lear SEM (Change Management Tool), SVN and Jira.

Perform design reviews within the affected areas, suppliers and customers.

Responsible of the PCB BOM.

Support and follow PCB design review with customer, manufacturing, suppliers and engineering areas

Creates and keeps component libraries.

Responsible for schematic introduction on CAD database for power JB according costumer specifications.

Defines and optimizes topology and technology of PCB with Project team.

Leads the PCB DFMEA and participates when requested on the PFMEA.

Ensures PCB robust design according quality procedures (check list, thermal simulation, design guidelines, mechanical interface…)

Defines additional tests to be applied on PCB when needed.

Analyzes results from laboratory proposing and modifying possible changes on PCB design to solve non-conformities.

Analyzes and approves PCB validations.

Defines product variant assembly and pinout list.

Participates proposing changes on CTO / DTC activities

To lead support and follow problem resolutions (8D, customer, suppliers,.. )


To be a success in this role you must have:

  • 6 months in PCB Design or Hardware engineering
  • Fluent in English
  • Engineering degree
  • Knowledge of CAD tools (PCAD, Expedition…)
  • Communication and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of customer(s) procedures.
  • Knowledge of the development processes established in the organization & project
  • Knowledge of industry applicable standards and customer specifications
  • Knowledge of the   Requirements management tools used in the organization (i.e. DOORS, SEM, SVN…)
  • English knowledge
  • Knowledge of automotive industry, Quality standards and problem resolution tools (8D, DVT, PVT, PPAP…)
  • Knowledge of Power Electronics and Electrical Vehicles.
  • PCB Design knowledge (technical, EMC’s, Thermal Management…).
  • Overall understanding of International PCB standards (i.e.IPCs).
  • Overall understanding of PCB materials, technologies and manufacturing assembly processes.
