An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Global Chief Engineer to lead the development and maintenance of Lear’s global reference platforms for Gateways in line with the business product line and road mapping strategy. Reporting directly into the Global Vice President of Engineering for Connectivity  /Gateway Product Line, this position will work closely with cross functional leadership teams including product management, systems engineering, hardware engineering, software engineering, and purchasing to develop reference platforms that enable Lear to achieve its’ long range plan for sales and profitability growth within the product line.

As Chief Engineer your responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to)

  • Collaborating with product management teams to define product line roadmaps based on market requirements and key technology trends
  • Working to define a global cross-functional project team (including systems, software, hardware, and mechanical engineering, as well as purchasing, program management, and manufacturing) to develop innovative, scalable, and re-usable product line architectures that will be used as a baseline for all Gateway technical proposals and quotations globally
  • Planning, leading and managing the development of product line system requirements and DV-ready hardware / software designs and implementations according to the product roadmap and project budget
  • Operating as the final technical decision maker on reference platform architecture and technical design decisions
  • Representing and presenting Lear’s Gateway reference platforms, technology, and engineering capabilities externally to key customers and internally to E-Systems senior management
  • Supporting regional Connectivity engineering teams to specify and estimate the engineering costs to configure, customize, and apply the reference platform in OEM projects. 


As Chief Engineer your responsibilities will include (but may not be limited to)


  • 10+ years experience in the development of automotive embedded systems
  • 5+ years of experience in Gateway Electronics and application into automotive architectures
  • 5+ years of experience leading complex embedded systems engineering projects
  • Capability of leading complex Root Cause & Corrective Actions (RCCA)
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to give Technical Presentations to Executive Leadership Teams   
  • Track record of success in creating and innovating complex automotive embedded systems
  • Experience developing and managing complex supplier ecosystems and business relationships, including hardware and software suppliers
  • B.S.E. in Electrical or Computer Engineering required.  M.S.E. and MBA preferred
