A unique opportunity has arisen within our Connection Systems organization for an Engineering Director to Lead our regional engineering organization.  Reporting to the Global Engineering Director for the product line and located from Remscheid (Cologne) the Engineering Director will assume responsibility for over 100 engineering and laboratory teams members located across Germany and Czech Republic.  The position will work closely with counterparts responsible for commercial, operational and program management functions to ensure key regional programs are delivered against customer specifications whilst also strategically working on RFQ and future road mapping strategies with executive management within the product line. In additional the Regional Engineering Director will play a key role in planning Lear’s vertical integration strategy between Connection Systems and Electrical Distribution Systems product groups.

 

Additional responsibilities will include (but not be limited to)

  • Lead, coach, develop and enhance the capabilities of the regional engineering team
  • Participating in benchmarking/ research into new technology areas
  • Supporting lab to enhance Connection Systems validation capabilities
  • Supporting quality claims and alignment of engineering and lab team direction.
  • Leading the CTO activities to contribute towards Lear’s annual commercial targets

To be a success in this role you will need

  • Experience of having operated in a Director or Regional Management level position with responsibility for multi cultural engineering teams or departments
  • Extensive experience over many years in Engineering management and/or Project Management, preferably in Terminal & Connectors business
  • Extensive knowledge in manufacturing operations with a particular focus on progressive die stamping, injection molding and assembly of metal and plastic parts.
  • Quality and Engineering processes, methods and tools, such as APQP, DFMEA, DFSS, FEM
  • Track record of success in delivering complex automotive OEM engineering projects on-time, on-budget, and according to customer requirements
  • Fluency in English language
  • A Bachelor’s degree an Engineering related discipline M.S.E. and MBA preferred.
