As a Senior Quality Engineer you will work closely with the Quality Manager to provide customer, supplier and operational support on a daily basis and promote and maintain quality standards in accordance with predetermined customer and corporate requirements to ensure the Plant meets its business objectives.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

Production Quality:

  • Manage, lead and guide the team of Quality Technicians to ensure that all Technicians’ responsibilities are completed in a timely manner.
  • Organize Quality Technician resource to provide day to day support to production and the customer across all shifts.
  • Mentor and develop the Quality Technician team to ensure they have the correct skills to carry out their roles effectively.
  • Provide technical support to production staff in order for them to be able to produce efficiently and to the correct quality requirements.
  • Track and manage internal/external quality issues ensuring immediate containment and rapid problem closure including horizontal integration.
  • Ensure a structured problem-solving approach is applied to countermeasure activities and prevent re-occurrence.
  • Continually assess and measure effectiveness of process controls, use applicable quality tools to develop fault and escape prevention action plans on single piece flow and small size batch production facilities.
  • Ensure that all quality related documentation is completed accurately and on time in accordance with predetermined requirements.
  • Ensure that all operational personnel are fully aware of internal and external quality standards and concerns on an ongoing basis to assist in ensuring quality standards are maintained.
  • Ensure that product inspection procedures, reports and documentation are accurately and timely completed in order that each product has complete traceability.
  • Ensure FMEA and control plans are regularly reviewed and updated when 8D’s, any product/process changes or quality concerns arise, whilst informing all relevant personnel of changes.
  • Ensure TS16949/ IATF16949   is maintained.
  • Liaise with the customer in a professional manner regarding customer quality requirements.
  • Continually consider and propose, where appropriate, new methods of implementing and controlling quality standards in order to continuously improve the quality performance of the company.
  • Work as a team member to maintain the teamwork philosophy.

 

Supplier Quality:

  • Provide production line support via investigation of supplier related defects, and implementation of supplier containment activities.
  • Issue supplier Quality Notices and ensure robust containment is implemented.
  • Coordinate SQTS initial response approval process and ensure supplier compliance.
  • Produce monthly supplier performance reports and communicate to supply base.
  • Process monthly supplier chargeback.
  • Log and process supplier deviation/change  requests.
  • Process supplier PPAP submissions.
  • Create, implement and develop procedures.
  • Produce inspection / rework instructions for supplier containment activities.
  • Report sort activity findings to relevant suppliers.
  • Manage supplier quarantine areas.
  • Ensure completion of shiftly tasks as dictated by checklist.
  • Conduct supplier, parts and process / countermeasure audits and report findings.
  • Represent the Company at the supplier facilities.
  • Carry out weekly supplier MOS updates.
  • Manage personal projects and demonstrate continuous improvement status.
  • Communicate and co-ordinate quality information all internal departments as required.

 

Key skills and Qualifications:

 

  • Competent in modern quality tools/methodologies, including 8D problem solving and TS16949/IATF16949.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering specs.
  • Skilled in people management, with strong leadership, influencing, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent PC skills.
  • Capable of prioritizing, planning, and handling work pressures.
  • Proactive and strategic in addressing daily challenges. Possesses a systematic, precise, and logical problem-solving approach.
