AME Vision Systems Engineer


The successful candidate will work cross functionally to develop concepts, prototypes, control systems, machine vision systems, and software for complex manufacturing and test equipment within Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Team in Europe and Africa.


The main tasks of the job include:


  • Participates on project teams to develop clear specifications, evaluates feasibility of concepts, and provides formal estimates for control systems and vision system designs.
  • Identification of suppliers.
  • Integrate vision systems like machine vision, barcode reader, robotic vision and equipment vision monitoring systems for manufacturing line 
  • Connect vision systems to network infrastructure through different protocol like EtherNET, Profinet and TPC/IP
  • Learn vendor vision systems and adapt to Lear production systems.
  • Troubleshoot control systems using pneumatic and electrical schematics.
  • Create supporting design documentation.
  • Communicate costs and project status to project lead.
  • Update machine vision software to increase yields and/or quality of existing vision systems.
  • Collect and analyze inspection results to prove robustness of vision system changes.
  • Complete project deliverables and monitor project schedule and scope changes to assure team can meet milestones.
  • Provides training as required to ensure that the software/vision solutions can be operated effectively- typically after implementing new processes or equipment, or making changes to existing ones
  • Provides championing functional best practices.
  • Developing and maintaining clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment or processes
  • Cooperating with Controls and LPS Teams to ensure latest programming solutions and communications are covered
  • Troubleshooting automated processes or equipment when errors occur
  • Ensure a safe working environment, follow, support and maintain working practices, comply with all relevant HSE legislation and local policies and procedures.


Key skills:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field required
  • At least 3 years of experience in Electrical Engineering / Robotics / Software Development / Vision System design or Automation in manufacturing company is preferred
  • Experience with Cognex Vision Pro, Cognex Insight and Keyence vision systems preferred
  • Understanding of AI topics
  • Creative thinking skills
  • Very good level of English is required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 40 % of worktime
