Forklift Operator

                    FORKLIFT OPERATOR – 1ST SHIFT 
     JOB LOCATION MCCALLA, AL – TUSCALOOSA PLANT  

  

As a member of the McCalla team, the Forklift Operator will be responsible for performing work according to established procedures and policies through teamwork. The Forklift Operator is a part of the Materials Department and reports to the Team Coach and/or Superintendent. The Forklift Operator will be responsible for ensuring safety standards are followed at all times.

 

The Role: 

Your work will include, but not be limited to: 

  • Moving materials using an industrial truck (forklift, tugger, pallet jack, etc.).
  • Manually pushing material bins up to production stations.
  • Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, and/or recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.
  • Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify and meet production needs.

Your Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years forklift experience
  • Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, colors and mathematical operations).
  • Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
  • Ability to self-manage time and workplace under minimal supervision while maintaining varying production requirements.

 

 

Bonus If You Have:    

  • Bilingual  
  • 2 years plus forklift operating experience

 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  •   Physical ability to lift, carry, and/or move objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
  •   Physical ability to walk frequently to all plant locations.  
  •  Ability to read and see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Ability to detect color of material components.
  • Physical ability to frequently sit, walk, lift, carry, push, pull, twist, reach and grasp.
  • Ability to successfully complete the forklift certification class.
