RFQ WIRE HARNESS ENGINEER

SOUTHFIELD, MI

 

This job will require you to:

  • Lead and coordinate the engineering activities related to wire harness RFQs
  • Technical review of key program gates, validation requirements, ED&D costs
  • Direct internal support staff to complete initial designs for quoting
  • Collaboration with suppliers, customers, other Lear internal groups to support RFQ
  • Lead and support all Technical Design Reviews related to RFQ package responses
  • Promote new technologies during the quoting phase
  • Promote cost reduction ideas during the quoting phase
  • Support the vertical integration strategy to replace existing components with Lear products
  • Establish strong business relationships with OEM commercial representatives
  • Work closely with manufacturing locations to identify re-use of tooling to lower quote costs

The ideal candidate

To succeed in this position, you will ideally have:

  • 3-5 years in Automotive Engineering field
  • Electrical Distribution Systems product and components experience (Wire Harness and Wire Harness components)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline
  • Knowledge of design release processes
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of automotive terminal and connector suppliers
  • Technical analysis and characterization
  • Able to work in a multicultural and foreign team environment
  • Interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to facilitate meetings with other departments and suppliers
  • Curiosity and passion for technical domains
  • Propensity to challenge status quo and take ownership to drive change
  • Ability to manage complexity, taking distance to identify the key levers in a complex environment
  • Strong communication and leadership to onboard and convince a large range of stakeholders
