We are looking for a Cost Engineering Manager to join us in our world class facility in Coventry


Role overview:


The Cost engineering manager role is a critical role in the global finance organization. The cost engineering manager will report to the Global Director of Cost Engineering – Seating. The Cost Engineering Manager -Europe will be the single point of contact in the region for should cost analysis for both new sourcing and current production spend. The cost engineering manager will work closely with commodity buyers, engineering, finance and manufacturing teams to roll-out should cost models based on globally developed templates and assist purchasing in sourcing negotiations based on factual data. The cost engineering manager will also act as liaison between cost engineers globally and buyers and commodity managers in their region. Additionally, the CE Manager will be responsible for assisting in quotes to customer for new business awards.


Role responsibilities:


  • Support the global finance and purchasing organization to source components at the best cost upfront using fact-based negotiations
  • Understanding of activity-based costing principles in manufacturing
  • Detailed understanding of automotive manufacturing processes such as stamping, injection molding, welding, metal forming etc.
  • Ability to work across multiple functions incl. purchasing, engineering. finance, sales and manufacturing.
  • Ability to gather local knowledge and explain gaps between “should costs” and supplier pricing based on factual data
  • High level of independent judgment, initiative, creativity, and the overseeing multiple projects

The ideal candidate will have:


  • BS/BA required. MBA or Masters in an engineering field preferred.
  • Requires 5+ years cost modeling, cost engineering and/or purchasing experience with a working knowledge of activity-based costing principles.
