Role overview:

To coordinate and control implementation of engineering/design changes (RFRs) at customer (OEM and Tier 1s) and Lear external (SVC) locations, driven by both, customer and Lear Engineering To ensure reworks are done in line with corporate and financial goals, aims and objectives.

This job is based in LEAR Coventry, UK.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate engineering reworks at customer location or Lear SVC including supporting RFR process, assuring necessary resource availability (human, material and tooling resources) for the reworks execution
  • Provide leadership, guidance and direction to the employees involved in the re-working of part for launch, ensuring agreed objectives are met in line with business plans.
  • Manage and coordinate assigned rework technicians/operators from both technical and leadership point of view. Provide resource requirement in timely manner avoiding shortage of resources. Cooperate with 3rd party provider, coordinate and control their work and costs
  • Motivate and focus all employees involved or affected by the re-working within the launch program and build phases.
  • Manage 3rd party resources in a most cost effective manner. Control the cost of rework as well as 3rd party charges to avoid overpayments
  • Handle the Rework Matrix report on daily bases and presenting the actual status of reworks on the daily follow up meeting and distribute to the launch team every day
  • Be identified as the Lear responsible, qualified to deal with customer production issues. Get customer credibility through commitments fulfillment.
  • Through coordination and liaison with the plant operations team, responsible for all manufacturing, quality, technical, logistics and maintenance functions on site to support re-work launch activities.
  • Provide a safe and environmentally sound working environment by providing strong management support of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and best practice.
  • Ensure re-work launch activities are within time, budgetary targets and strive to exceed targets.
  • Ensure the utilization and understanding of continuous improvement techniques and processes within all aspects of the EDS / Launch and re-work team.
  • Use technical skills to drive re-work issues, whilst empowering key personnel to deliver successful outcomes in line with the business key performance indicators.
  • Establish and maintain effective customer working relationships in order to develop positive partnership in the continuous growth and development of the business.
  • Promote and maintain a culture of partnership and team working whilst maintaining the integrity of the business and achievement of corporate and local objectives.

 

Key skills and Qualifications:

  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent or Engineering degree
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of full facility issues.
  • Proven change management record
  • Experience working in automotive environments
  • Quality or Engineering skills would be a plus
