Industry 4.0 within Lear Corporation is underpinned through the integration of intelligent digital technologies and analytical systems into manufacturing and industrial processes. Lear Corporation’s industry 4.0 strategy is primarily divided into 2 key operating functions. Firstly, the successful project management and execution of industry 4.0 initiatives into our manufacturing operations. Secondly, the digital analysis and data gleaned from visual management systems ensuring Lear takes informed decisions across its wider business maximizing our operational efficiency whilst upholding the highest quality standards ensuring that Lear’s operational and financial objectives can be achieved. 

 

As a Senior Compute Optimisation Engineer you will be working with colleagues focused on optimising our use of resources in order to deliver operational Use Cases to support business decisions. You will provide expertise to the data engineers, data analysts and UI application developers in order for them to deliver efficient solutions that effectively utilize the available compute resources, whilst ensuring security, reliability and operability is maintained. You will be supporting industry 4.0 projects and the rollout of activities that are identified as well as working on financial, human resources and other commercial projects.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage execution of data-focused projects using Lear’s data analytics and application platform as a member of the EU&AF AME team.
  • Drive identification of cost optimization opportunities within projects.
  • Provide expertise in AWS Cloud cost monitoring and optimization on a broader scale.
  • Optimize large databases and associated ETL pipelines handling structured and unstructured data from various sources.
  • Analyze data and generate statistical insights to highlight trends and patterns across production, financial, customer forecast, and product data.
  •  Utilize multiple programming languages to transform big data into manageable datasets and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Transform technical data into understandable insights and recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of interactive dashboards integrating visuals with real-time data.
  • Understand program and product delivery phases, providing expert analysis throughout the lifecycle.
  • Integrate disparate data feeds using both new and legacy technologies to create scalable datasets.
  • Create and monitor compute costs, taking necessary actions to optimize expenditure.
  • Ensure documentation and procedures align with internal practices (ITPM) and Sarbanes Oxley requirements, continuously improving them.
  • Optimize system performance for all hardware and technology resources.

 

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5 years experience of working within a multinational organization with international, cross functional teams.
  • 5 years experience of working within data engineering or optimization to support a high volume manufacturing operation.
  • Experience working as part of an integrated data team.
  • Strong business analysis/requirements analysis skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree qualification in Computer Science, Electronics or Systems / Software Engineering.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Systems, or comparable Electronic Discipline. 
  • Working within an Agile framework.

 

Skills:

  • Expert level of knowledge across several SQL platforms.
  • High Level of operating knowledge with Python and PySpark Platforms with demonstrated ability to reduce data transfers and utilised compute.
  • Specific knowledge of SQL / DBA tuning development.
  • AWS Cloud optimisation and cost modelling experience.
  • Experience in the configuration of cost monitoring and alarm tooling.
  • Experience in developing data mining methods and data tools.
  • Knowledge of applying data lineage,transformation and quality analysis activities.
  • Performance optimisation skills – to be able to modify Python/R/SQL code to reduce data transfers and utilised compute.
  • Data Pipeline Architecture Experience.
