Role overview:

The mission of the Senior Engineer is to lead the development teams for UK centric business on both quoting and awarded programs whilst building customer relationships (both internal and external) and their trust. Drive for robust product development that can fulfil customer requirements and expectations. Working in collaboration with structures teams based in Italy, Slovakia and Poland.

This job is based in LEAR Coventry, UK.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Leading customer engineering BOM, to achieve product competitiveness targets / CTO roadmaps / material cost
  • Manage customer change requests to the DCR process to capture product or process cost change opportunities
  • Ensure that products are developed robust, accurate and cost effective by following Lear quality standards
  • Execute flawless product launches
  • Build customer intimacy and nurture the relationship.
  • Act as main technical leader in customer application programs and project responsible during product development phases (RfQ / Awarded) following program deliverables.
  • Lead and document internal & external engineering meetings (Design Reviews, Design Freeze…) in accordance to customer milestones
  • Understand customer’s programs/platforms and specific build plans affecting related T&C projects
  • Support products development that give Lear an innovative advantage in the marketplace
  • Actively participate on engineering process improvements and continuous improvement initiative
  • Acting as a technical interface for internal & external customer to ensure smooth project execution
  • Evaluate and clarify technological / validation / testing aspects
  • Ensure project team is informed and knows where are priorities and all tasks are properly assigned and understood

Key skills and Qualifications

  • Senior Automotive engineer with experience of leading technical teams.
  • Excellent communications skills, Positive and creative mindset
  • Self starter / ability to work autonomously when required.
  • Cross cultural communication skills / awareness would be advantageous
  • Ability to be able work effectively within a diverse team environment
  • Mechanical Engineer – HNC or Degree Level preferred.
  • Seating Structures or Seating experience advantageous.
