QUALITY SUPERVISOR
FARWELL, MI

 

As a member of the Quality Team, Quality Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that finished products meet quality and specification requirements.

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

 

  • Communicates with and represents the needs of customers relative to product information, quality requirements, inquiries, complaints, and corrective actions.
  • Transmits information from the customer to appropriate organizational functions.
  • Ensures that product quality standards are met through the fulfillment of customer requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains internal quality system documentation necessary to satisfy customer requirements, including FMEAs, control plans, work instructions, etc.
  • Coordinates the timely investigation and closure of customer/supplier corrective and preventative action activities.
  • Generates the necessary data to identify and implement defect-reduction activities.
  • Evaluates nonconforming material and initiates necessary containment/corrective action activities.
  • Provides guidance to other quality assurance functions in-house, such as evaluate lab, layout, receiving, and inspection.
  • Contributes to the implementation and continuation of the quality management system.
  • Supervises staff members as assigned, including compliance, training, performance management, reward, and is responsible for subordinate safety compliance and training. Functions as a role model relative to safety and environmental issues.
  •  
  • APQP activities –
    • Assist in the development of FMEAs, Control Plans, Quality Standards, Packaging Plans, and other documentation as identified and required.
    • SER activities – Perform dimensional/IFD inspection activities as requested.
  • PPAP activities –
    • Perform dimensional/IFD inspections per customer requirements.
    • Perform gage R&R studies per customer requirements.
  • Internal Auditing –
    • Perform/assist in assigned internal audits as an auditor or auditee.
  • Inspection activities –
    • Perform monthly & daily inspections (dimensional, core density, IFD) activities per control plans.
    • Communicate inspection results to necessary individuals.
    • Maintain part template storage system to ensure templates are easily obtained and stored.
    • Maintain test buck storage system to ensure bucks are easily obtained and stored.
    • Maintain/update inspection work instructions and data sheets.
    • Ensure all inspection measurement and test equipment is calibrated as required and stored properly.
  • Problem solving/Corrective & preventative action activities –
    • Assist in the investigation of and closure of customer/supplier 8Ds as assigned.
  • Engineering changes –
    • Actively participate in the research/communication of engineering changes and requirements between Lear Southfield and Lear Farwell
  • Positively enforce company policies, procedures, and work instructions
  • Positively assist in the development and achievement of company and departmental goals and objectives
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Your Qualifications:

 

  • Knowledge of automotive supplier requirements (experience in industry)
  • Excellent customer interaction skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Six Sigma training preferred.
  • Software – Advanced Excel and Access, Basic Word, and Outlook
  • 2 years supervisory experience
  • Team-oriented
  • Data-driven
  • Expert knowledge and application of Internal Force Deflection (IFD/ILD) growth process with the ability to teach the process.
  • Advanced knowledge and application of Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Advanced Product Quality Planning/Control Plans (APQP/CP), Gage Control/Analysis (R&R), Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Problem Solving, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Internal Force Deflection (IFD/ILD) testing.
  • Intermediate knowledge and application of 8D Database, Corrective and Preventative Action Process, Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Product development process, Quality alert process, Quality management system, Returned goods analysis, and Special Event Request (SER) process.
