ASSISTANT QUALITY MANAGER
HAMMOND, IN - PLANT

 

This is professional work providing oversight and accountability for establishing quality policies and programs. Incumbents are responsible for providing inspection and quality expertise to assigned departments to accomplish Lear’s goals and objectives.

 

 

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

    • Oversees in-process quality audits, final inspection reviews, and customer presentations.
    • Conducts in accordance with the policies of the company, and the ASQ code of ethics.
    • Seeks to continuously improve processes, practices, procedures, and performance in support of Lear objectives.
    • Collaborates with other team members to reach consensus on department goals, improvements, and service.
    • Assists to develop and maintain budget and operating plan for the Quality Assurance department.
    • Analyzes reports to determine areas of improvement and the appropriate plan of action
    • Assists in planning and scheduling work for the quality division, ensuring proper distribution of assignments
    • Plans and conducts meetings with subordinates to ensure compliance with established practices, to implement new policies, and to keep employees abreast of current changes and standards.
    • Establishes and administers the Lear’s quality policy in line with the corporate guidelines.
    • Oversees quality assurance, continual improvement, development and implementation of quality, and safety and environment management systems.
    • Directs the inspection and testing procedures of parts and/or finished products and handling of returns/rejects.
    • Designs and develops new QA tests as time permits.
    • Works with defective management tools to report and track defects in product and associated literature.
    • Interfaces with outside inspectors or auditors and other officials during plant audits and maintains a rapport with customers to aid in compliance with regulations,
    • Assesses both suppliers' and Lear’s product specifications and customer requirements; working closely with materials staff in establishing quality requirements from external suppliers.
    • Recognizes and schedules relevant quality-related training needs;
    • Ensures tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated and that product modifications are investigated if necessary;
    • Develops standards for employee performance review related to quality documentation.
    • Evaluates systems, analyzes data, and evaluates products and technology and establishes quality control procedures.

 

 

Your Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of precision tooling, experience with comparators, height gages, and micrometers.
    • Knowledge of terminology pertaining to quality assurance as needed to respond to questions and provide oversight.
    • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
    • Knowledge of government specifications and standards in the Industrial field Education and Prior Work Requirements.
    • Knowledge of the quality functions of an automotive plant as needed to oversee and direct employees in these functions.
    • Knowledge of strategies such as product lifecycle management (PLM), just-in-time, and self directed teams as needed to effectively implement these strategies.
    • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
    • Knowledge of Lear’s organizational rules, regulations, procedures, and practices as needed to oversee processes and human resources.
    • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal service to include customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

 

Bonus If You Have:

  • Possess strong knowledge of ISO14001/IATF16949 quality management system and quality control techniques.
  • Possess strong leadership skills
  • Possess application knowledge of FMEA, SPC, TQM, etc. methodology.
  • Possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
