AME Equipment Automation Engineer 



Overall Purpose of the Job:

The AME Equipment Engineer / Subject Matter Expert TRIM will play a crucial role in supporting the definition and development of applications for automation in EU & Africa TRIM & JIT plants, aligning with the EU Industry 4.0 strategy. As a key member of the regional Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team, the role involves identifying opportunities, preparing technical concepts, collaborating with external suppliers, and actively contributing to the creation of business cases with plant teams. The position requires effective communication with suppliers, sharing lessons learned, and contributing to the definition of standard solutions. Additionally, the AME Equipment Engineer will work with all stakeholders to establish and deploy equipment and process standards, as well as hardware standards definition.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the definition and development of applications for automation in TRIM and JIT plants in Europe and Africa.
  • Define equipment and process standards, ensuring adherence to AME Standards.
  • Identify innovations and support their successful roll-out.
  • Coordinate complex development tasks and collaborate with internal and external development partners.
  • Develop key suppliers in cooperation with the Purchasing team.
  • Collaborate with Industry 4.0 execution team and local plant support teams.
  • Benchmark solutions for process reliability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure adherence to AME Standards in project execution.
  • Manage project timing, proactively handling suppliers.
  • Closely manage project budget, adhering to the project spend profile in collaboration with the Finance team.
  • Ensure a flawless launch with zero customer impact.
  • Provide training and coaching to key staff to foster continuous growth within Lear.


Key Skills Required:

  • Technical university degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in related field ( automation / development / manufacturing / industrial engineering / process engineering).
  • Knowledge in automotive engineering, project management, and creativity techniques advantageous.
  • TRIM / soft material manufacturing experience is a huge advantage.
  • Fluent in Polish or Romanian and very good English skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and strategic approach.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel within the role (initially: Romania, Moldova, Poland).
  • Good communicator, comfortable presenting to all levels within the business.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Nice to have: Knowledge of MS-Project, experience in machine building, robotic programming (ABB/Kuka), 3D CAD drawing experience.
