SUMMARY

Under the direction of the KWW Supervisor and as part of the Kenansville floor management team, the role will have full responsibility for keeping a number of Warp-Knitting Machines in constant operation

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follow all safety standards.
  • Follow machine SOP and document verified on all piece tickets
  • Check the front and back of assigned machines to ascertain any running problems at beginning of shift and continuously during the shift.
  • Monitor the operation of the knitting machine for any defects that are undetected by the scanner or cameras on machine.
  • Stop the Knitting machine when a defect is detected.  The Knitter goes to the machine and determines the reason for the defect.  If the defect is due to yarn breakage the Knitter repairs and restarts the machine.  If the Knitter can’t repair the defect, the Knitter will notify the Fixer for repair.  After repair is completed the Knitter enters the defect information into the LTS computer and records Information on Knit piece ticket.
  • Performance expectation within a 12-month training period Knitter will be capable of running up to 28 machines efficiently. 
  • Enters required data in LTS computer for each doff and records on piece ticket and logbook. 
  • Monitors amount of yarn on beams to ascertain machine stops before all yarn runs off beam.
  • Adheres to Knitter Work Instructions including all documented special instructions
  • Report all abnormalities to Department Leadership
  • Any additional ad-hoc duties, in line with role and company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by Shift Lead/Supervisor.
  • Maintains a clean work area

KNOWLEDGE OF

  • Understanding of textile manufacturing methods

 

ABILITY TO

  • Read, write, and speak and understand in English, in order to interpret documents such as specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, reports, business correspondence, regulatory and procedure manuals.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers, Supervisors and Managements. Work independently with little or no supervision and be a team player.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Meet behaviors established in Company performance management and development process.
  • Pay attention to detail.
  • Effectively execute tasks.
