Job Title:  Shade Tech/EVS Mapper

 

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Internal Quality Manager, this person is responsible for conducting the Quality Control for shade consistency between orders. Skills will be acquired through on the job training, review of SOPs, and working through daily responsibilities.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This is a representative sample -- not to imply a complete listing of all responsibilities and tasks.

  • Follow all safety standards
  • Retrieve samples from inspection buggies for shade check
  • Cut samples into retain cuts using electric scissors and label as needed
  • Use photospectrometer to read color of materials
  • Visually compare shade consistency within work order and to sample retain card and master shade sample under MacBeth light
  • Record and disposition shade of material in Basics system
  • Store samples in required method; envelope, plastic tote, run card, etc.
  • Creation of Swatch boxes as required by customer
  • Creation of COA packages
  • Shade approve orders in Basics/Add shade to units as necessary
  • Approve or reject first piece samples of Finished, Napped & Embossed samples as brought into the shade room as compared to standard
  • Verify Point/Loop & Face/Back of incoming sample material
  • Verify foam & lining on laminated goods
  • Generate NCRs on shade failures as well as any other out of spec condition
  • Review daily Offline email from Material’s group to prioritize production shade requirements
  • Outside of normal sample pick up times, go and collect samples needed for Offline shipments
  • Review QC Pending file that is distributed 30 minutes before each shift ends
  • Assist Physical Test Lab, Customer Service & shipping to ready shipments
  • Learn vision system software & process
  • Review EVS maps from Laminators and frames, export to inspection for use.
  • Troubleshoot EVS vision systems
  • Be able to distinguish defects presented from the vision systems
  • Assist in determining potential causes of the defects based off patterns or details from the vision system.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and containment of Internal and External quality issues
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

KNOWLEDGE OF

  • Internal work order/style/color identification of material
  • Basic Textiles (point/loop, face/back, etc.)
  • PC skills including Microsoft Outlook

 

 

 

ABILITY TO

  • Distinguish between all colors and pass the Munsell Test
  • Read, write & speak and understand in English, to interpret documents such as specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, reports, business correspondence, regulatory and procedure manuals
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to record numbers on required paperwork
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers, Supervisors and Management.
  • Work independently with little or no supervision and be a team player
  • Meet behaviors established in Company performance management and development process.
  • Effectively organize, set priorities, schedule assigned work; oversee multiple and rapidly changing priorities
  • Pay attention to detail
  • Effectively execute tasks
  • Ability to use a computer and Microsoft Office programs
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook (receiving and forwarding attachments)

  • Must be available to work 7 days a week

  • Overtime may be required

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months to one-year position-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
