The Lear Corporation operates a plant in Melfi, Italy, which primarily manufactures seating systems for the automotive industry. This facility serves major customers, with Stellantis being the most notable partner due to the plant’s proximity to Stellantis’s large vehicle production site in Melfi. Lear’s Melfi plant operates on a Just-In-Time (JIT) model, closely aligning production with the assembly line schedules of its customers.

 

The main objective of this role is to coordinate the management of the Logistics and Materials Department of the Melfi plant, both in terms of processes and resources. Responsible for the effective development and maintenance of the management of all functions related to materials: transportation, receiving, storage, stock control and corresponding procedures; supervising the human and material team assigned for this purpose. Reporting to the Plant Manager.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Represent the Materials Department in management meetings.
  • Define and hire or acquire the necessary equipment for loading, unloading, moving and storing materials.
  • Determine the most appropriate methods of storing and moving materials.
  • Ensure the most efficient management of materials, FGI and resources in accordance with the plant's goal
  • Support the plant in fulfilling the OIP task
  • Manage the most cost-effective transportation routes, both for purchasing and transportation, and seek opportunities to combine and optimize distribution routes and consolidation warehouses.
  • Define and maintain inventories of raw materials necessary to supply production.
  • Implement a materials management system that integrates supplier deliveries with production requirements and established raw material quantities.
  • Create and maintain finished goods inventories necessary for customer deliveries.
  • Train, motivate and ensure proper performance of employees under your supervision.
  • Set the annual department budget and ensure compliance.
  • Monitor, implement and adapt company policies relevant to your area of ​​responsibility.
  • Collaborate in planning and developing procedures and goals.
  • Maintain an effective communication system regarding materials and shipments both within the company and with customers and suppliers, managing and reporting the necessary information at various levels of the company.
  • Collaborate with other departments in implementing technical changes and introducing new products or discontinuing their production.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with supplier representatives.
  • Promote visual management and FIFO (First In, First Out) in the factory.
  • Ensure that databases and systems related to materials management are updated.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations in your area of ​​responsibility. Comply with all safety and environmental regulations defined in work instructions or communicated through training.
  • Take the necessary measures for the prevention and control of operations.
  • Report all accidents, occupational diseases and emergencies.
  • Ensure that customs incidents are forwarded to the central customs department of Lear Corporation (in Grugliasco).

 

Requirements:

 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in team management
  • Fluent in English
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office
  • University degree in Industrial Organization Engineering or similar field.
