Position Focus:

The Automation Engineer will play a key role in enhancing engineering productivity and process efficiency within the automotive product development lifecycle. This position focuses on identifying manual, repetitive tasks across design, validation, and manufacturing engineering teams and developing robust automation solutions using Python and C. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate automation into existing workflows, particularly those involving automotive tools, diagnostics, and data analysis. A strong understanding of automotive systems, protocols, and engineering environments is essential to ensure that automation efforts align with industry standards and support high-quality vehicle development.

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Senior Automation Engineer to join our Tools and Process team within the automotive engineering domain. This role is critical in supporting product development and validation teams by creating automation solutions using Python and C to streamline engineering workflows, reduce manual effort, and enhance data accuracy and efficiency.

The Senior Engineer follows defined technical procedures to work independently on routine tasks, and his/her work experience impacts quality of own work, the work of others in the team, and gives direction to the projects.  He/she acts as an automation engineer, and his work enhances product quality. He/she has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance to new associates. He/she solves a range of straightforward problems and analyses possible solutions using standard procedures.

He/she builds knowledge of the company, processes, and customers to gain further insight into problem solving.

Experience:

• Design, develop, and maintain automation scripts and tools using Python and/or C.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to identify automation opportunities.
• Document automation solutions and provide training/support to end users.
• Troubleshoot and optimize existing automation scripts for performance and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices in automation development.

Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in software development or automation engineering.
• Proficiency in Python and/or C programming.
• Experience in scripting for task automation, data processing, or system integration.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines.
• Knowledge of Linux/Unix shell scripting.
• Familiarity with REST APIs and JSON/XML data formats.
• Exposure to Agile development methodologies.
• Experience in automotive or manufacturing environments is a plus.
• Experience with automotive tools and protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, UDS).
