OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To manage freight procurement activities to support Lear operations under his/her regional scope, ensuring efficient and cost-effective solutions. This role involves planning, vendor management, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain performance.

 

SCOPE OF THE POSITION

  • Prepare and execute RFQ’s to fulfil the transportation needs under his/her regional scope.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Collaborates with management to align transport sourcing proposals with carrier strategy goals.
  • Oversee and assesses overall carrier performance.
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with Supply Chain Design team.
  • Lead LOP calls with Lear operations under his/her scope and drives route implementation process.
  • Maintain rates and contracts in systems and internal records following internal compliance rules.

 

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare and execute RFQ’s, and makes sourcing proposals ensuring cost-effectiveness and reliability
  • Participate in the regular sourcing committees
  • Send route awards to carriers
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Contribute to Carrier Strategy goals
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Negotiate with carriers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
  • Monitor and analyze carrier performance metrics
  • Source transportation needs, securing the best options within the approved carrier pool.
  • Provides valuable feedback for conducting Carrier performance reviews and support onboarding new ones.
  • Collaborate with plants and central teams to optimize supply strategies.
  • Act as the escalation point for operational issues at the plants.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities as part of daily activities.
  • Maintain close communication with plants, peers, and divisional logistics management.
  • Propose new ideas and concepts to optimize material flow and organize transportation needs to be more cost-effective and efficient.
  • Maintain rates and contracts in systems and internal records following internal compliance rules.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • University degree in Engineering, Supply chain, Business Administration, or related field (Major in logistics preferred).
  • Fluent in English. Spanish and any other language would be positively valued.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing procurement and logistics operations
  • 3 years’ work experience in a Logistics, control tower environment or working for a forwarder.
  • Experience managing road, air, ocean, and rail shipments
  • Experience using transport management systems (TMS)
  • Ms Office (Excel & Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive in addressing potential issues before they escalate.
  • Collaborative, working well with peers, service providers, suppliers, and customers to achieve common goals.
  • Confident and self-assured, adaptable to a demanding and varied environment.
  • Effective time management, prioritizing multiple goals.
  • Good negotiating skills and strong analytical capacity.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven.
