BUYER (AUTOMATION / MACHINE SHOP)
NOVI, MICHIGAN
NATURE OF WORK: This position encompasses all elements of material procurement and management.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED (The following duties are typical for this classification. However, any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed.)
- Taking completed Bill of Materials and entering the data into Coupa. (Lear’s purchasing system) This requires great attention to detail, excellent Microsoft skills and a working knowledge of the Coupa system (Training provided)
- Compiling purchasing data for internal PM usage. Attend staff/quote/kick off meetings and provide updates to the team in real time
- Price check with past purchases and vendors
- Follow up with both Lear internal buyers and suppliers for delivery issues/opportunities. Gather and supply additional detail information for supplier as needed.
- Receiving and managing job specific items and inventory. Hands on receiving of materials. Inspection of materials for correct quantity and product. Checking in material to the coupa system. Checking in material to shop floor systems including loading job carts. General organization of job carts working directly with shop floor general manager.
- Tracking of shipping issues including vendor delivery schedule. Direct contact with vendor required for shipping errors
- Upon receiving of discrepant material, direct follow up with vendor for resolution.
- Bridging vendors and design team to ensure accurate orders
- Back up to office manager in various activities; out bound shipping, financial reporting,
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
- Advanced Microsoft office capabilities with emphasis in excel
- Coupa Systems
- Project & time management
- Vendor relations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Three years’ experience in a purchasing role at an automation/machine build shop.
