SENIOR ENGINEERING MANAGER
SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN – WORLD HEADQUARTERS

 

As part of the Americas JIT Engineering team, you will be managing shared resources within the JIT product engineering team with an emphasis on active involvement in technical leadership In addition you will coordinate training and development of product guidelines for use by the global engineering community. Specific focus given to robustness of engineering development, efficiency of design as well as execution and adoption of lean engineering principles. 

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage shared technical support resources across the product engineering group
  • Develop technical skills within through training and deployment robust problem-solving techniques and design principles
  • Ensure the capture of re-occurrence and Lear knowledge items into guidelines and checklists.
  • To provide coaching and training on processes, requirements and technologies as required.
  • To act as a technical representative in the region and reinforce knowledge transfer and global SME network / processes.
  • Drive design by analysis and product specification.  Where necessary provide access to technical benchmarking team.
  • Actively support the use and development of A3/BEP documentation and principles.
  • Support design reviews as required.
  • To develop, maintain and release design guidelines.
  • To develop, maintain and release checklists for commodities.
  • Support and concur checklist audit submissions for SME scorecard.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of foundation DFMEA’s.

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required Technical Skills

  • Effective use of Microsoft products (excel, power point, word)
  • Robust problem-solving experience
  • Demonstrable technical expertise and knowledge of seating design with an emphasis on JIT features
  • Analytical approach to product design.

 

 

Preferred Technical Skills

 

  • Training and presentation skills.
  • Generation of technical guidelines or standards.
  • Systems and process development experience.

 

Required Education Qualifications

  • Science or engineering related degree. Alternatively, significant demonstrable seating or related product technical expertise.
  • Minimum 15 years of work experience in seat product engineering or related field

 

Preferred Education Qualifications

 

  • Advanced Science or engineering related degree
  • Training in robust problem solving
  • Previous leadership experience
