JUNIOR TRANSPORTATION DESIGN –INTERIOR DESIGN
SOUTHFIELD, MICHIGAN –WORLD HQ

 

 

LIV is currently seeking for the most advanced, innovative and skilled junior transportation designer, specialized in Interior Design and with a passion for seating. Interested candidates will have first vehicle interior design experience and demonstrated first capabilities showcasing unique design and out-of-the-box thinking. This position will be responsible to support and push the envelope of styling and design to new heights.  A secure and comprehensive understanding of current and future styling is mandatory along with outstanding conceptual design understanding and presentation style/skill for vehicle exterior and interior design.

 The applicant needs to be able to successfully translate exterior design styles into compelling interiors, integrating innovative functionalities for modern transportation. Capable to develop 2D sketches to 3D sculptures successfully and translate the developed styling into compelling presentations. Capable to work in a matrix organization and take on projects of complex nature and bring in new product innovations. 

 

The Role: Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Support the development of interior design concepts with sketches and renderings that optimize the product’s function, value and appearance, with a focus on interior seating. 
  • Participate as Lear’s program designer as interface to our OEM customer’s design studios globally.
  • Visually communicate Lear’s design objectives as well as interpret the OEM’s styling intent.
  • Support styling direction to the CAD group relating to surface and product form development.
  • Assist in the visual communication of Lear’s color and materials group‘s design proposals.
  • Provide design support & direction to the model /prototype shop on three dimensional seat properties.

 

Your Qualifications:

  •   Creative thinker with an innovative style & design mindset, with min. 2-3 year’s work experience
  •   Styling and design experience (seating/interior design preferred)
  •   Craftsmanship experience (surface materials / surface material enhancements)
  •   Awareness of production manufacturing limitations and feasibility
  •   Excellent communication & presentation skills
  •   Excellent interpersonal skills that are crucial in working with OEM designers national & international
  •   Ability to deliver direction to others with confidence, yet accept critique and change in direction
  •   Ability to support multiple tasks at once and changing priorities
  •   Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally
  •   Excellent skills with Adobe Suite Product Suite e.g. In Design, Photoshop and Illustrator and other 2D    

  visualization tools as required.

  •   Excellent skills in at least one 3D program like Alias or other
