As a member of the engineering team, the Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for leading the development through production launch of metal seat structures and mechanisms.  Typical processes consist of: stampings, weldments, rivets, fasteners, clinching and various other automated and manual assembly methods and practices.


The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Develop and manage project budgets throughout the life of a program.
  • Prepare quote requests.
  • Evaluate and compare initial source quotes and processes.
  • Manage all aspects of equipment and tool build at external equipment integrators.
  • Maximizes efficiency by analyzing line layouts, workflow, assembly methods, change-over-fixtures and tooling, gauges, work-in-process (WIP) handling.
  • Main point of contact with production plants throughout the program development and launch.  Responsible for technical support as needed thereafter.
  • Work with Product Engineering to ensure parts and assemblies are designed and tolerance to allow manufacturing best practices to be used.
  • Work with Quality Engineers to Develop Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) requirements such as: Process Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (PFMEA), Process Flow Charts, and Control Plans.
  • Support Program Management generated macro-schedules with detailed timing, to ensure that all project milestones are tracked and completed on time.
  • Relies on broad depth of knowledge and expertise to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Works under minimal supervision.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required and expected.


Your Qualifications:

  • Possess strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must be well versed in GD&T and ability to read prints
  • Must be highly organized.
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and work well in a team environment.
  • Possess strong leadership skills.
  • Proficient with MS office software. AutoCAD or other 3D modelling is a plus.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for extended periods within US & Mexico, (2-3) week intervals


Bonus If You Have:

  •  BS Degree in mechanical engineering or manufacturing is a minimum.
  • 8+ years of seating mechanism experience (recliners, latches, tracks)
  • Experience with Riveting, Clinching, Swaging, Presses and equipment, Automated assembly lines.
  • Understanding of metallurgy. (Steel grades, Heat Treating, Formability)
  • Welding experience is a plus. (Laser, GMAW, Resistance)
  • Understanding of fixture design, part fit up, process parameters, equipment.
  • Experience with automotive companies is preferred.
