SENIOR ADVANCED MANUFACTURING ENGINEER (AME)
SOUTHFIELD, MI - WORLD HEADQUARTERS

 

As a member of the Flex Air AME team, the Senior AME Engineer will be responsible for tooling and equipment concept and development, along with new plant industrialization.  There will be a high degree of collaboration and working as a part of a team with Product Engineers and Program Managers.  As the programs progress, the engineer will also be expected to handle launch activities and travel to various locations.

 

The Role:

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Developing processes and related equipment for a new seating material.
  • Processes will primarily include extrusion, molding, and various forms of automated cutting.
  • Automation and industrialization planning.
  • Expected to be able to concept and define processes, while working with and managing integrators.
  • Develop and maintain budgets and timelines.
  • Prepare RFQs (requests for quotation), evaluate responses, provide recommendations.
  • Work with Quality and Plant engineers to develop PFMEA, work instructions, and control plans.

Your Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of working with automation.  Robots, palletized lines, pick and place units, vision inspection etc.
  • BS Degree in a related field.  Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Demonstrated history of leading equipment procurement through entire lifecycle.  Concept, build, plant installation and successful program life.
  • Ability to work with 3D CAD.  Need not be proficient in creation, but able to utilize and navigate with viewing software.
  • Basic AutoCAD abilities for reviewing plant and equipment layouts.
  • GD&T proficiency, basic metrology, and parts inspection
  • Experience with Control Plans, PFMEA’s, Inspection Sheets, and floor documentation
  • Willingness and ability to travel as development and launch schedules dictate.
  • Use broad depth of knowledge and expertise and given a wide degree of creativity and latitude under minimal supervision to accomplish goals.
