JOB TITLE:     Senior Buyer

 

POSITION FOCUS:

This person will be responsible for supporting global purchasing initiatives, including but not limited to material cost reductions, strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations, and development of supply contracts for metal fastener purchases.  The job holder will be responsible for all tactical aspects of supply chain procurement methodologies required to support plant and customer requirements.

 

SCOPE:

A wide degree of independent work is expected

 

EDUCATION:

BS/BA or equivalent experience

 

EXPERIENCE:

Requires minimum of 3 years work experience. Automotive cross-functional experience is a plus.

 

JOB SPECIFIC COMMENTS:

  • Leads development and implementation of cost saving programs
  • Manages sourcing selection of material with best in class cost and quality
  • Negotiates long term agreements
  • Develops strategies to achieve current and long-term results
  • Has familiarity with commercial terms and total cost management concepts
  • Ability to work in a highly productive, constantly changing environment

  • Strong written communication and presentation skills
  • Conducts necessary visits to Lear or supplier plants (<10%)
  • May train and guide the work of Buyers
