Position Overview

The Cost engineering manager role is a critical role in the global purchasing organization, which  will report to the Advance Purchasing Manager . The cost engineering manager will work closely with commodity buyers, engineering, sales, finance and manufacturing teams to roll-out should cost models based on globally developed templates and assist purchasing in sourcing negotiations based on factual data. The reliable information  from benchmarking study expects to improve supplier`s base competitiveness and finally drive and support new business opportunity and growth

 

Key Tasks

  • Support Europe  purchasing organization to source components at the best cost upfront using fact based negotiations
  • Be the  Interface between suppliers and sales team to support negotiation with OEM’s to explain given cost structures and to bridge customer  Should Cost GAP’s  versus price  
  • Understanding of activity based costing principles in manufacturing
  • Detailed understanding of automotive manufacturing processes such as stamping, injection molding,  rubber injection, welding, die Casting,   Infotaiment subassemblies,  etc.
  • Detailed knowledge of tooling  process manufacturing, and  cost structure  for injection moulding,  stamping dies , etc
  • Ability to work across multiple functions incl. purchasing, engineering. finance, sales and manufacturing.

 

Key Competences and Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master in an engineering field preferred.
  • Requires 5+ years  relevant experience , preferably in automotive industry
  • Solid Experience  and knowledge in  commodity analysis,  costing trends, cost modeling, and purchasing experience with a working knowledge of activity based costing principles.
  • Advanced computer skills are required in Microsoft Office Software and other estimation specific software
  • Problem solving and analytical thinking ,  being proactive and  with continuous improvement mindset
  • Effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills required to work with a cross functional team  with proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationship
  • Capable to work under pressure , with organization skills and ability to prioritize
  • High level of independent judgment, initiative, creativity, and the overseeing multiple projects
