Job Description
MATERIALS PLANNER
AUBURN HILLS, MICHIGAN – ORION
As a member of the Materials team, the Materials Planner will be responsible for:
Position RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform Weekly and Daily MRP.
- Work with Suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts
- Review/analyze both daily releases to the supply base
- Reconciles Supplier accums to ensure proper releasing (daily and weekly release).
- Maintains evidence of supplier delivery performance and updates to supplier rating system by communicating issues to the Supplier Quality Engineer.
- Mandatory participation in all plant inventories.
- Follows the IATF16949 quality policies, procedures and work instructions related to the Material Department.
- Participates in Continuous Improvement and cost saving initiatives for the department/plant through freight savings and other.
- Follow all engineering changes notices through the system
- Responsible tracking all incoming material
- Responsible for coordinating break points to entire plant when a new part or revision level is introduced to plant
- Participate in BOM audits and tear downs for the plant.
- Participates in all GM Engineering Change Control Meetings for all program responsible for
- Meet LPA and 5S assignments as scheduled consistently.
- Responsible for the maintaining all material master and PSA for all assigned parts
- Responsible for maintaining the in transit for all assigned parts
- Responsible for cycle counting according to cycle count schedule all assigned parts
- Responsible for logging all cycle counts into the cycle count log per LEAP requirement
- Responsible for identification and reconciliation of all part building out and or obsolete
- Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications
Your Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of materials planning, production scheduling, logistics, inventory control, or manufacturing experience.
- Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment preferred.
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (SAP preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of inventory management principles and production scheduling.
- Ability to analyze data and identify material shortages, excess inventory, and schedule risks.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with production, purchasing, customer service, and suppliers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
