Job Description

The Assistant Materials Manager is responsible for the management of material, transportation and inventory needs of the plant. Accountable for meeting monthly goals and analyzing the performance of each measurable, while administering the department in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

• Lead material planning, inventory control, shipping, receiving, warehousing, and material flow operations.
• Manage MRP, BOM maintenance, PFEP, production planning, and inventory accuracy.
• Monitor supplier performance, delivery metrics, shipment accuracy, and corrective actions.
• Support customer scheduling requirements, material availability, and premium freight reduction.
• Drive inventory optimization, obsolescence management, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Supervise material supervisors, warehouse personnel, and material handlers; provide training and performance management.
• Ensure compliance with IATF requirements, customer-specific requirements, customs regulations, and company procedures.
• Monitor transportation costs, truck utilization, packaging expenses, and material handling efficiency.
• Maintain safe operation of material handling equipment, storage systems, docks, and racking.
• Lead safety audits, incident investigations, corrective actions, and EHS compliance activities.
• Participate in contingency planning, plant inventories, cycle counts, and continuous improvement projects.
• Collaborate with production, quality, engineering, and supply chain teams to meet customer and business objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent relevant years of experience

Experience Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Materials Management.
