QUALITY ENGINEER
AUBURN HILLS, MI
As a member of the Quality team, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for verifying incoming and outgoing materials conform to documented requirements, prepare incoming and outgoing inspection instructions, and ensuring that nonconforming material is segregated or moved to an area responsible for necessary repairs and then another inspection before use in a Lean manufacturing environment.
The Role:
Your work will include, but not be limited to:
- Ensure calibration of all Quality equipment and the corresponding system records are maintained
- Calibration log system and verify equipment & gauges meet all requirements
- Support IATF Internal Intertek Audits as needed
- Conduct a minimum of one Internal Audit per year
- Maintain and develop all Control Plans, Process Flows & PFMEA’s in APiS with cross functional team
- Schedule reverse PFMEA reviews and meetings
- Create schedule and perform “Process Walks” on all product lines per schedule, cover all within 12 months (Based on Risk)
- Perform and record monthly PFMEA RPN review with action item updates
- EPC: Working in a cross functional team (Production & Quality) perform management review, develop, and implement EPC requirements for all new launches per production releases
- Review data collected and communicate process control status, through run charts or pareto charts for non-conforming concerns
- Provide plant support through problem solving and error-proofing for plant, customer issues and customer returns
- Perform and report out capability studies on all critical torque, monthly
- Perform GR&R and Capability studies as needed such as (appearance assessment, torque studies)
- Review product audits and poke yoke data to assure Team Lead added to chart, on weekly basis and report out all non-conformances
- Support Quality Coach duties as needed for all shifts
- Lead and complete two continuous improvement Kaizen project per year, focused on reducing IPPM’S, Scrap or COPQ
- Support supplier issues that arise from production line, using SQTS
- Use SQTS for written complaints back to suppliers with QN and close QN’s in a timely manner
- Support supplier sorts and containment activities as needed
- Support corrective action 5-Phase / 8D’s on customer written complaints using but not limited to control plans and PFMEAS
- Support customer issues to assure complete follow through for containment on all shifts, floor communications, and action to assure timely response
- Support quality reviews for service as needed
- Complete the 7 Quality Modules, requires a passing score
- Review modules annually
- Support LPOF, capture evidence and update spreadsheet as needed
- Support lab and lab activities; h-point, scan, effort, and shaker requirements
- Schedule weekly LPA audits
- Report all open corrective actions and open audits before the end of the week
- Support prelaunch requirements (birth certificates, pictures, management review buy off documentation) as needed
- Upload Monthly KPI’s in LQTS
- Weekly marketplace KPI reviews
- PPAP support as needed
- Support the monitoring of all lines in preparation of IATF audit
- Support BOM Audits as needed
Your Qualifications:
- Prior experience in automotive manufacturing
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Knowledge of terminology pertaining to quality assurance as needed to respond to questions and provide oversight.
- Knowledge of various functions of an automotive plant such as maintenance, quality, production control, operations, and materials as needed to determine how they are interrelated and oversee employees in the quality department
- Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, supervisors and co- workers at all levels in person and over the telephone.
