SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER
HAMMOND, IN
As a member of the Quality team, The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for coordinating suppliers and verifying quality standards in accordance with the requirements of the organization and the customer.
The Role:
Your work will include, but not be limited to:
- Support the supplier PPAP process by reviewing and approving supplier PPAP submission, including any required follow up and the coordination of part samples for dimensional reviews and assembly trials
- Support plant production by ensuring all supplier parts meet engineering requirements
- Manage supplier notification, responsiveness, containment, root cause determination, corrective actions and closure of supplier quality issues using internal supplier tracking database
- Track all supplier related costs associated with poor quality and/or service; summarize these costs and communicate to the supplier via the debit memo process.
- Receiving and inspection process owner which includes supervising Incoming Inspectors and maintaining incoming inspection reports, data and /or records
- Report monthly supplier performance and quality to management using standardized reports
- Identify to the Division Supplier Quality team any ongoing systemic quality issues/poor performing suppliers
- Coordinate with Divisional Supplier Quality, the communication and implementation of formal controlled internal or external staffed containment action
- Facilitate and supervise all supplier based sorting and product containment activities
- Has the authority and the responsibility to stop any process or product delivery in case of a non-conformance of customer expectations, safety or environmental risks.
Your Qualifications:
- Required:
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Expertise in APQP gate Review development process.
- Competent in quality tools, and process/production control methods such as:
- APQP
- Control Plans
- FMEA
- GD&T
- MSA
- PPAP
- SPC
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills using 8D methodology:
- Is-Is Not
- Fishbone diagram
- Brainstorming
- Affinity Diagrams
- Three legged 5 Why
- Preferred:
- Understanding of manufacturing with respect to one or more of these areas: automated assembly equipment, complex product assemblies, mechanisms, fixtures and gauges.
- Expert in customer specific requirements
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Experience: 2 years of Quality with manufacturing experience
