Job Description

As part of the EMEA Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team, the AME Engineer is tasked with supporting the execution of projects to defined standards in accordance with Lear’s AME Roadmap. The projects will be grouped to allow continuity in the project delivery. Reporting to the AME Manager, the role will play a key role within AME team tasked with overseeing the implementation, requirements installation and start-up of projects in the EU&AF plants. Additional tasks performed by the AME Engineer include ensuring project implementation is conducted to Lear standards, technically interfacing with suppliers, creating work instructions and specifications to be utilized within the plants as well as and identifying training needs within the facility.

Responsibilities

• Work in close collaboration with Central AME CoE as well as Plant Operations and EHS teams.
• Coach plant teams and share knowledge gained during project execution to support successful serial production.
• Work with Central AME, Purchasing, and Commercial teams to support Lear’s RFQ process.
• Work with plant teams to ensure there is a clear business case or operational need for each project.
• Ensure Lear AME standards and best practices are deployed and adhered to.
• Participate in discussions with key stakeholders regarding execution strategy, timing, and implementation of AME projects.
• Develop and optimize manufacturing process flows to support new launches and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead and conduct MOST studies to establish labor standards and identify productivity improvement opportunities.
• Perform line balancing activities to achieve operational efficiency and resource optimization.
• Own and maintain Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support APQP activities to ensure successful product and process industrialization.
• Design and develop manufacturing layouts that optimize material flow, safety, quality, and productivity.
• Develop logistics flow concepts, including material presentation, replenishment strategies, and warehouse-to-line processes.
• Support equipment specification development, technical reviews, supplier alignment, and equipment acceptance activities.
• Ensure a safe working environment; follow, support, and maintain working practices; comply with all relevant HSE legislation, local policies, and procedures.

Requirements

• Experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role, Continuous Improvement role, Process Engineering role, or Project Management role.
• Experience in supporting the execution of advanced manufacturing projects within an operational environment.
• Proven experience within a Just-In-Time (JIT)  or JIS manufacturing environment is required.
• Experience with process flow development, line balancing, PFMEA, APQP, and manufacturing layout design.
• Understanding of logistics flow concepts and material flow optimization within manufacturing operations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Demonstrated understanding of ergonomic requirements and ability to provide practical solutions.
• Confidence in presenting to peers, plant leadership teams, and central organization stakeholders.
• Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel as required by the role.
• University Degree ascertained in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering or comparable discipline
• Min. 3-5 years work experience in a related field or position
• Fluency in English language both written and verbal

Nice to have:

• Project management experience with project budget control.
• Understanding of CE certification requirements
