Job Description
Lear is seeking an experienced Senior Product Engineer to support the development of premium automotive armrest and headrest systems for a key customer program.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading product development activities from concept through launch, ensuring customer requirements are translated into robust, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions. You will work closely with customers, manufacturing plants, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products that meet demanding performance, quality, timing, and cost targets.
We are particularly interested in senior engineers with experience in automotive interior systems, ideally within seating products, who are comfortable taking ownership of complex components throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of armrest and headrest systems for automotive seating applications.
- Act as the technical owner of components throughout the full product development lifecycle.
- Translate customer requirements into engineering specifications and product solutions.
- Support product feasibility studies, design reviews, validation activities, and engineering changes.
- Coordinate development activities with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, testing, program management, and supplier teams.
- Support prototype builds, testing activities, and issue resolution.
- Ensure compliance with customer, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing requirements.
- Drive continuous product improvements related to quality, performance, cost, and manufacturability.
- Support launch activities and serial production issue resolution.
- Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced team members as required.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of Product Engineering experience within the automotive industry.
- Strong experience with automotive interior products, preferably seating systems, armrests, headrests, consoles, door panels, or trim components.
- Experience managing components through development, validation, and launch phases.

Knowledge of interior component manufacturing processes, including foam, trim, plastics, metal structures, and assembly.
- Knowledge of automotive product development processes, including APQP, DFMEA, DVP&R, and engineering change management.
- Experience working directly with OEM customers and cross-functional teams.
- Strong technical problem-solving and project coordination skills.
