Job Description

As part of the EU iDEA Team, the iDEA Project Engineer is tasked with coordinating and supporting the execution of the iDEA projects within the fields of Robotics, Automation, Maintenance, Digital Twin, Vision Systems and EOL Systems with the aim of operationalizing them into EU & Africa JIT, Trim and Structures Plants, as part of the EU I4.0 strategy. Working as part of the deployment team specifically for AI projects being implemented across the plants by managing key aspects of each project whilst supporting communication with designated suppliers, collaborating with plant teams to deliver working solutions that align with Lear’s overall iDEA strategy. 

Responsibilities

  • Creates process standards, guidelines, work instructions, trainings for solutions being deployed by the team. 
  • Supports the creation of Industry iDEA playbook aligned to corporate direction, as required.
  • Supports the design of fixtures necessary for the deployment of the solutions.
  • Responsible of the installation of the solutions and projects in the plant.
  • First point of contact for the plant team for the deployment of the solutions.
  • Coordinates with the plant teams for the required resources during installation phase of the project.
  • Supports and coordinates testing and trials needed to be done on site with different plants.
  • Ensures all Lear EHS standard and local authority regulations are complied with, during all projects.
  • Performs and documents technical studies and analysis made on each one of the sites for the feasibility of implementation and for the installation itself. 
  • Prepares documentation needed by the plant to start with the deployment of the solution Supports on technical training to the key users of the solution assigned by the plant Proposes solutions to solve the installation problems and triggers actions to ensure these are done by the plant. 

Education Requirements

  • University Degree ascertained in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering or comparable discipline

Technical & Personal Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ work experience in a related field or position
  • Fluency in English language both written and verbal. 
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Engineering role, Continuous Improvement role or Product Development role.
  • Experience in supporting execution of advanced manufacturing project into operational environment Mechanical and fixture design, knowledge of GD&T standards and tools such as AutoCAD / Solidworks
  • Understanding and interpretation of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, CE certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of regulations: IET wiring, LOTO and safety procedures, awareness of ATEX/CompEx. PLC basics knowledge. I/O wiring, addressing, safe isolation. 
  • Commissioning: I/O checks, functional tests. Demonstrates clear understanding of ergonomic and HSE requirements to provide solutions to problems.
  • Basic Network knowledge: TCP/IP architecture and stack, IP addressing, subnetting, gateways.
  • Switch configuration and VLAN basis.
  • Troubleshooting connectivity issues between PLCs, HMIs, Cameras, and other HW.
  • Strong analytical skills / problem solving skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel within the role (approximately 50%).
  • Confidence in presenting to peers and team leaders from plant and central organization.
