Job Description

This position drives the development and modernization of shop-floor applications at Lear Corporation. The role focuses on improving application development efficiency, advancing modern software engineering practices, and accelerating the adoption of containerized and cloud-based solutions to enhance scalability, reliability, and operational performance across manufacturing environments. The successful candidate will work with application development teams to modernize existing solutions, introduce new technologies and development practices, and help establish a flexible application architecture that supports the evolving needs of manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and modernize applications supporting shop-floor and manufacturing operations.
• Help transition appropriate applications from traditional deployment models to containerized environments.
• Support the adoption of modern application architectures and cloud-native development practices.
• Develop applications and services using .NET, C#, and modern web technologies.
• Evaluate and implement container technologies and orchestration platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
• Support deployment of applications to Linux-based and containerized environments.
• Identify opportunities to modernize legacy shop-floor applications while maintaining compatibility with existing manufacturing systems.
• Develop reusable components, services, APIs, and common frameworks to improve development efficiency across multiple applications.
• Help establish standards and best practices for application architecture, containerization, configuration, logging, monitoring, and deployment.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, manufacturing, and architecture teams to deliver solutions that meet plant requirements.
• Support integration between shop-floor applications and enterprise or manufacturing systems using APIs, messaging, databases, and other integration technologies.
• Participate in proof-of-concept initiatives to evaluate new technologies before broader production adoption.
• Troubleshoot application and deployment issues across development, test, and manufacturing environments.
• Create and maintain technical documentation covering application architecture, deployment, configuration, and operational support.

Your Qualifications

• Experience with containerization and container platforms.
• Experience developing enterprise applications using C# and .NET.
• Experience with web application development and modern application architectures.
• Understanding of REST APIs, web services, and application integration patterns.
• Experience working with relational databases and SQL.
• Understanding of source control and modern software development practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across application development and infrastructure teams.
• Experience supporting applications in production or other business-critical environments.

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:

• Docker or other container technologies
• Kubernetes or OpenShift
• Linux application hosting
• ASP.NET Core or Blazor
• Microservices and service-oriented architectures
• CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
• RabbitMQ or other messaging technologies
• RESTful API development and integration
• Cloud or hybrid-cloud application environments
• Manufacturing or shop-floor application development
• Application monitoring and observability
• PostgreSQL, MongoDB database knowledge and experience
